IHC staining of Biotin anti-IP3R1 antibody (Clone L24/18) on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded rat brain tissue. Following antigen retrieval using Sodium Citrate H.I.E.R (Cat. No.928602), the tissue was incubated with 5 µg/ml of the primary antibody overnight at 4°C, followed by incubation with Alexa Fluor® 594 Streptavidin (Cat. No. 405240) for one hour at room temperature. Nuclei were counterstained with Hoechst, and the slide was mounted with ProLong™ Gold Antifade Mountant. The image was captured with a 10X objective. Scale Bar: 100 µm

Description

Inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate (IP3) is a calcium-regulating second messenger that receptor involved in ER stress-induced apoptosis. IP3 receptor, type 1 (IP3R1) is a receptor for IP3 expressed on the ER which opens a calcium channel on the ER after IP3 bidning. IP3R1 is expressed in developing and mature neurons and its dysregulation may be involved in progression of certain neurodegenerative diseases. IP3R1 is also involved in autophagy, cellular energenetics, macrophage inflammasomes, and other cellular processes.
