GGT1 is a transferase that plays a key role in the gamma-glutamyl cycle. GGT1 is abundantly expressed in liver and kidney. Its involvement in glutathione metabolism makes it an important regulator of the oxidative stress in the central nervous system, as well as in other tissues. GGT1 is also a known marker for apoptosis. Importantly, elevated levels of GGT1 correlates with breast cancer tumor progression and resistance to chemotherapy, suggesting GGT1 as a candidate for cancer prognosis marker.

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by Western blotting. For Western blotting, the suggested use of this reagent is 0.5 - 5.0 µg per ml. For immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue, a concentration range of 1.0 - 5.0 µg/ml is suggested. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.
