CD138, also known as Syndecan-1, is a type I integral membrane heparin sulfate proteoglycan. As a member of the syndecan protein family, Syndecan-1 mediates multiple cellular processes, including migration, proliferation, and cell-matrix adhesion through interactions with collagen, fibronectin, and other soluble molecules (such as FGF-basic). It is expressed on normal and malignant plasma cells, pre-B cells, mesenchymal cells, epithelial cells, and endothelial cells.

-
Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by immunofluorescent staining with flow cytometric analysis. For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is 5 µL per million cells in 100 µL staining volume or 5 µL per 100 µL of whole blood. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.

- Application Notes
-
Clone S22003D can block the binding of clone MI15 on target cells, but it does not affect the binding of clones DL-101, S22003B, and S22003F on target cells.
Binding of clone S22003D on fixed target cells is not significantly reduced compared to un-fixed cells. - RRID
