ETS erythroblastosis virus E26 oncogene homologue 2 (ETS2), also known as ETS2IT1, is a member of the ETS transcription factor family. ETS2 contains one conserved winged helix-turn-helix ETS DNA-binding domain that recognizes the core consensus DNA sequence GGAA/T. ETS2 has been found to be an evolutionary conserved proto-oncogene and is a downstream regulator of the Ras/Raf/MAPK pathway. ETS2 participates in the regulation of the genes involved in stem cell development, cell senescence, cell death, apoptosis, and tumorigenesis. Defects in ETS2 gene have been associated with choriocarcinoma and Down syndrome.
