Ubiqulin-2 is a ubiquitin-like protein that facilitates the degradation of ubiquitinated proteins by mediating their binding to the proteasome. Mutations in ubiquilin-2 have been linked to neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and frontal temporal dementia. These mutations are linked to disruption and impairment in the delivery of ubiquitinated substrates to the proteasome. In addition, ubiquilin-2 can interact with components of the ERAD machinery and localizes to autophagosomes, indicating that it plays a role in these pathways.

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by Western blotting. For Western blotting, the suggested use of this reagent is 1.0 - 10 µg per ml. For immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections, a concentration range of 2.0 - 5.0 µg/ml is suggested. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.
