Western blot of purified anti-Fascin-1 antibody (clone CPTC-Fascin1-2). Lane 1: Molecular weight marker; Lane 2: 20 µg of human brain lysate; Lane 3: 20 µg of SH-SY5Y cell lysate. The blot was incubated with 0.2 µg/mL of the primary antibody overnight at 4°C, followed by incubation with HRP-labeled goat anti-mouse IgG (Cat. No. 405306). Enhanced chemiluminescence was used as the detection system.

Description

Fascin is a 55 kD F-actin binding protein that is involved in cell motility and migration. Fascin plays an important role in the organization and formation of membrane ruffles, stress fibers, and a diverse set of cell protrusions, such as filopodia. In the mouse subventricular zone-derived migratory neuroblasts, Fascin is highly upregulated to guide the migration of cells along the rostral migratory stream. In Drosophila, Fascin controls neuronal class-specific dendrite arbor morphology to elicit the accurate establishment of neuronal circuits.
