Multi-BV and BUV Cocktails

We are continually innovating with our flow cytometry reagents, creating new dyes, buffers, and cocktails to help answer research questions. Until now, it has been a challenge to combine multiple Brilliant Violet™ and Brilliant™ Ultraviolet dyes in a single dry cocktail. Our latest innovation erases this hurdle, bringing a new and unique solution into the hands of scientists. These custom ready-to-use cocktails can be stable for years at ambient temperature. Our proprietary technology allows us to minimize polymer dye interactions and combine 5+ Brilliant Violet or Brilliant Ultraviolet dyes in a dried down or lyophilized cocktail format. Learn more about this technology and contact us to create your custom cocktail.

Human peripheral blood was stained with a 7-color antibody panel including BV421™, BV570™, BV605™, BV711™, BV750™, APC, and Spark Violet™ 538. Dot plots are gated on lymphocyte populations and depict dye-dye interaction (top plots), which are corrected in dry cocktails using BioLegend’s new cocktail technology (bottom plots).

Flow cytometry cocktails at-a-glance

We provide cocktails in several formats, including liquid, dry down, and lyophilized formats, allowing you to have increased flexibility for storage and stability for your workflows. Choose the format best suited to your research or discuss the matter with our Custom Solutions Team for advice on choosing the right format for your experiments.

Liquid cocktails

  • Multiple tests per vial
  • Shorter shelf life
  • Needs refrigeration
  • Need to pipette/aliquot

Lyophilized and dry down cocktails

  • Single test per vial
  • Longer shelf life
  • Ambient storage
  • Ready-to-use (add to sample directly)

Human peripheral blood was stained with a 16-color antibody panel including seven Brilliant Violet™ dyes, BD Horizon™ BUV737, PE, PE/Cyanine7, APC/Fire™ 750, BD Horizon™ APC-R700, PE/Dazzle™ 594, and Alexa Fluor® 488. Dot plots are gated on lymphocyte populations and depict correction of spillover in dry cocktails using BioLegend’s new cocktail technology.

FAQs

Will we receive compensation controls with our order?

Compensation and FMO controls may be requested with your order.

Can my custom product be labeled as CE/ASR/IVD?

No. Our reagents are produced under ISO 13485:2016 requirements and are intended for Research Use Only.

Can non-BioLegend antibodies be incorporated into custom cocktails?

Yes. We will work with you to build your ideal panel regardless of where your antibodies originated from.

Is there a performance difference between liquid, dried down, or lyophilized cocktails?

No. There are no significant differences between our liquid, dry, and lyophilized antibody cocktails in terms of staining performance.

What is the difference between dried down and lyophilized cocktails?

There is no significant difference between the performance or stability of dried and lyophilized cocktails. Lyophilized cocktails appear as a white pellet that can be dislodged from the bottom of the tube. Dried-down pellets form a translucent layer that coats the bottom of the tube. Selection of either dry form depends on user preference and experience.

How long will it take for my custom order to be completed?

Most custom orders can be completed within 6-8 weeks after final order confirmation. Refer to the flow chart below for more information on timelines.
