Jurkat cells were treated with 5 µM Camptothecin for 4 hours (upper panel) or left untreated (lower panel). The cells were stained with 7-AAD and APC mouse anti-Annexin A1 (clone 74/3). All staining steps were performed in Annexin V staining buffer. -

Annexin1 (also known as Lipocortin-1) is a membrane-localized protein that binds phospholipids. This protein inhibits phospholipase A2 and has anti-inflammatory activity. Loss of function or expression of this gene has been detected in multiple tumors. Phospholipase A2 is required for the biosynthesis of the potent mediators of inflammation, prostaglandins, and leukotrienes. Lipocortin-1 has phospholipase A2 inhibitory activity, thus therefore it is an anti-inflammatory protein.
