Western blot of purified anti-LBP antibody (Poly28638). Lane 1: Molecular weight marker; Lane 2: 20 µg of human brain lysate; Lane 3: 20 µg of mouse brain lysate; Lane 4: 20 µg of rat brain lysate. The blot was incubated with 1.0 µg/mL of the primary antibody overnight at 4°C, followed by incubation with HRP Donkey anti-rabbit IgG Antibody (Cat. No. 406401). Enhanced chemiluminescence was used as the detection system. -

LPS-binding protein (LBP) is a protein that binds to the lipid A moiety of bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS), which is a glycolipid present in the outer membrane of all Gram-negative bacteria. It is involved in the immunological response to infections of Gram-negative bacteria, together with bactericidal permeability-increasing protein (BPI). LBP also interacts with the CD14 receptor and enhances its association with LPS. LBP is associated with diseases including bacterial sepsis, and is related to cytokine release in response to bacteria in immune system.

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by Western blotting. For Western blotting, the suggested use of this reagent is 0.2 - 1.0 µg/mL. For immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections, a concentration range of 5.0 - 10 µg/mL is suggested. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.
