Recombinant human CCL11 (Eotaxin) (Cat. No. 583002) (black circles) induces the chemotaxis of mouse Baf3-mCCR3 transfectant chemoattractant cells. Ultra-LEAF™ purified anti-human CCL11 (Eotaxin) (A16056E) (purple squares) neutralizes the chemotaxis of recombinant human CCL11 (Eotaxin) on mouse Baf3-mCCR3 cells in a dose-dependent manner, whereas the Ultra-LEAF™ purified mouse IgG2a, κ isotype control (Cat. No. 400264) (gray triangles) does not have the effect. ND50 range: 0.1 - 0.5 µg/mL.

Description

CCL11 is a member of the CC chemokine family and was originally identified as a chemoattractant for eosinophils. In response to allergens, CCL11, which participates in a variety of allergic diseases, promotes accumulation of eosinophils. In addition, CCL11 facilitates proliferation and metastasis of tumor cells expressing the CCL11 receptor, CCR3. CCL11 has been shown to induce angiogenic response by CCR3-positive microvascular endothelial cells.

Recommended Usage

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by neutralizing the chemotaxis induced by recombinant human CCL11 (Eotaxin) (Cat. No. 583002) on mouse Baf3-mCCR3 transfectant chemoattractant cells. ND50 range: 0.1 - 0.5 µg/mL. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.

Structure
Chemokine
Distribution

Epithelial cells, smooth muscle cells, dendritic cells, and fibroblasts

Function
CCL11 selectively recruits eosinophils through binding to the chemokine receptor CCR3 during allergic response. CCL11 production is upregulated in response to several proimflammatory cytokines, such as IL-4, IL-13, TNF-α, and IFN-α, produced by mast cells and Th2 lymphocytes. CCL11 has been reported to stimulate eosinophil release from bone marrow, resulting in an elevated level of circulating eosinophils.
