Description

CAMPATH-1 antigen, also known as cluster of differentiation 52 (CD52), is a glycoprotein that in humans is encoded by the CD52 gene. It is expressed in the embryo mesenchyme and thymus primordium. CD52 acts upstream of or within response to bacterium and is located in the sperm midpiece. CD52 is present on the surface of mature lymphocytes, but not on the stem cells from which these lymphocytes were derived. It also is found on monocytes and dendritic cells. Furthermore, it is found within the male genital tract and is present on the surface of mature sperm cells. Due to its highly negative charge and presence on sperm cells and lymphocytes, it has been thought that CD52 functions as an anti-adhesion since it allows cells to freely move around.

Recommended Usage

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by immunofluorescent staining with flow cytometric analysis. For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is ≤ 0.25 µg per million cells in 100 µL volume. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.
