- Application Notes
-
Normal goat serum is used as a blocking solution in immunohistochemistry. It is effective in reducing non-specific binding of proteins. For example, Normal Serum Block prevents the secondary antibody from cross reacting with endogenous immunoglobulins in the tissue. The use of normal serum block before the application of primary antibody also eliminates Fc receptor binding of both the primary and secondary antibody.
The Normal Serum Block (cat#s 927501, 927502 , 927503) is supplied as a blue-colored solution for easy identification when working with multiple IHC reagents. Internal testing has indicated that this product does not interfere with immunofluorescent signals, nor did it contribute to autofluorescence in microscopy work. - Product Citations
