Western blot of purified anti-RCAN1 antibody (clone A18067A) and isotype control mouse IgG2b. Lane 1: Molecular weight marker; Lane 2: 20µg of human brain lysate; Lane 3: 20µg of mouse brain lysate; Lane 4: 20µg of rat brain lysate. The blots were incubated with 10 µg/mL of clone A18067A or mouse IgG2b overnight at 4°C, followed by incubation with HRP-labeled goat anti-mouse IgG (Cat. No. 405306). Enhanced chemiluminescence was used as the detection system.

Description

RCAN1 is a protein that inhibits the calcineurin/NFAT signaling pathway via it’s interaction with calcineruin A. RCAN1 has three different transcript variants, among which RCAN1.4 has been shown to regulate gene expression, cell migration and tubular morphogenesis in endothelial cells. Dysfunction of RCAN1 has been reported to impact the development of central nervous system, and is clinically linked to Down syndrome. It has also been reported that chronic overexpression of RCAN1 leads to formation of neurofibrillary tangles (NFT), and thus may play a role in neurodegenerative diseases such as AD.
