Tollip, also known as Toll interacting protein, is a ubiquitin-binding protein and an inhibitory adaptor protein involved in IL-1 and Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling pathway. Alterations in Tollip gene expression levels has been linked to tuberculosis and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, suggesting a role for Tollip in innate immune system. Tollip has also been reported to mediate autophagic clearance of poly-ubiquitinated proteins.
