Whole cell extracts (15 µg total protein per lane) from indicated cell lines were resolved by 4-12% Bis-Tris gel electrophoresis, transferred to a PVDF membrane, and probed with Purified anti-CDA (clone W20116C) overnight at 4°C. Proteins were visualized by chemiluminescence detection using HRP Goat anti-rat IgG (Cat. No. 405405). Direct-Blot™ HRP anti-GAPDH (Cat. No. 607903) was used as a loading control at a 1:50000 dilution. Western-Ready™ ECL Substrate Premium Kit (Cat. No. 426319) was used as a detection agent. Lane M: Molecular weight marker

Description

CDA, Cytidine deaminase, is an enzyme that plays a critical role in nucleic acid metabolism by catalyzing the deamination of cytidine to uridine. This reaction involves the removal of an amine group from cytidine, converting it into uridine and releasing ammonia as a byproduct. The importance of CDA lies in its involvement in several essential biological processes, including RNA editing, DNA repair, and pyrimidine metabolism.

CDA is integral to the catabolic pathway of pyrimidine nucleotides, particularly the salvage pathway, which recycles nucleotides for DNA and RNA synthesis. Cytidine deaminase breaks down cytidine and deoxycytidine into uridine and deoxyuridine, respectively. These products can then be further processed to form bases and nucleosides for the maintenance of nucleotide pools. By regulating pyrimidine homeostasis, CDA ensures that cells have a balanced supply of nucleotides, which is essential for DNA replication, transcription, and overall cell proliferation.

WB - Quality tested

Recommended Usage

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by western blotting. For western blotting, the suggested use of this reagent is 0.25 - 1.0 µg/mL. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.

Application Notes

It is not recommended to use this product for Immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunocytochemistry (ICC), or intracellular flow cytometry (ICFC).

This antibody is not recommended for use in Western blotting (WB) with mouse samples due to the presence of an unidentified band around 10 kDa.
