IHC staining of Alexa Fluor® 488 anti-RBFOX1 (A2BP1) antibody (clone A18069B) on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded mouse brain tissue. Following antigen retrieval using Sodium Citrate H.I.E.R. (Cat. No. 928502), the tissue was incubated with 5 µg/mL of the primary antibody overnight at 4°C. The slide was mounted with Fluoromount-G™, with DAPI. The image was captured with a 40X objective. Scale bar: 50 µm

Description

Rbfox1 is a member of the RNA binding protein family that shares a conservative RNA recognition motif. Rbfox1 has been shown to modulate alternative splicing by binding the consensus RNA sequence motif (U)GCAUG within introns. The interaction between cytoplasmic Rbfox1 and mRNA affects mRNA stability and translation. The binding of Rbfox1 protein to the C-terminus of ataxin-2 may be a contributing factor to the development of spinocerebellar ataxia type 2 .
