IHC staining of Biotin anti-Ankyrin-B antibody (Clone N105/17) on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded mouse brain tissue. Following antigen retrieval using Sodium Citrate H.I.E.R (Cat. No. 928602), the tissue was incubated with 5 µg/ml of the primary antibody overnight at 4°C, followed by incubation with Alexa Fluor® 594 Streptavidin (Cat. No. 405240) for one hour at room temperature. The slide was mounted with Fluoromount G with DAPI. The image was captured with a 10X objective. Scale Bar: 100 µm

Description

Ankyrins are adaptor proteins that mediate the attachment of membrane proteins to the cytoskeleton. Ankyrin-B (Ankyrin-2) is highly expressed in cardiac tissue where it has an essential role in stabilizing ion transporters and channels in cardiomyocytes in the membrane. Mutations in ankyrin-B are associated with cardiac arrhythmia and ankyrin-B may be involved in human heart failure.
