Description

CD138, also known as Syndecan-1, is a type I integral membrane heparin sulfate proteoglycan.  As a member of the syndecan protein family, Syndecan-1 mediates multiple cellular processes, including migration, proliferation, and cell-matrix adhesion through interactions with collagen, fibronectin, and other soluble molecules (such as FGF-basic). It is expressed on normal and malignant plasma cells, pre-B cells, mesenchymal cells, epithelial cells, and endothelial cells.

Recommended Usage

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by immunofluorescent staining with flow cytometric analysis. For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is ≤ 0.5 µg per million cells in 100 µL volume. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.

Application Notes

Clone S22003B does not affect the binding of clones MI15, DL-101, S22003D, and S22003F on target cells.

Binding of clone S22003B on fixed target cells is not significantly reduced compared to un-fixed cells.
