Description

CD75 is a cell surface glycan epitope found predominantly on mature B cells and germinal center B cells. It is produced by the enzyme alpha-2,6 sialyltransferase, an intracellular glycotransferase encoded by the ST6GAL1 gene. Earlier studies incorrectly identified CD75 as identical to the ST6GAL1 protein, but later research confirmed that CD75 is a carbohydrate molecule with distinct expression patterns from the Golgi-localized enzyme. This confusion has led to the incorrect characterization of some anti-CD75 antibodies.

The LN1 antibody recognizes CD75, not ST6GAL1, as previously thought.

Recommended Usage

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by immunofluorescent staining with flow cytometric analysis. For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is ≤ 2.0 µg per 106 cells in 100 µl volume or 100 µl whole blood. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.

Application Notes

Additional reported applications (for the relevant formats) include: immunohistochemical staining1,2 of frozen sections and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections, and Western blotting3.
