Whole cell extracts (15 µg protein) from DH5α E. coli cells were resolved by 4-12% Bis-Tris gel electrophoresis, transferred to a PVDF membrane, and probed with 0.5 µg/mL (1:1000 dilution) of Purified anti-E. coli RNA Sigma 54 Antibody, clone 6RN3, overnight at 4°C. Proteins were visualized by chemiluminescence detection using HRP Goat anti-mouse IgG Antibody (Cat. No. 405306) at a 1:3000 dilution.

Description

Sigma factors are initiation factors that promote the attachment of RNA polymerase to specific initiation sites and then are released. This sigma factor is responsible for the expression of enzymes involved in arginine catabolism. The open complex (Sigma 54 and core RNA polymerase) serves as the receptor for the receipt of the melting signal from the remotely bound activator protein glnG (ntrC).
