C57BL/6 mouse bone marrow cells were stained with purified anti-mouse CD157 (BST-1) (clone W21013C) (left) or purified rat IgG2a, κ isotype control (right) followed by goat anti-rat IgG PE. Cells were then co-stained with anti-mouse CD45R/B220 (clone RA3-6B2) APC. Data shown are gated on the lymphoid population.

Description

CD157, also known as ADP-ribosyl cyclase 2, BST-1 (bone marrow stromal cell antigen 1), and BP-3 antigen, is an ectoenzyme member of the ADP-ribosyl cyclase family. It has a molecular weight between 40 - 46 kD and is a GPI-linked cell membrane glycoprotein which is expressed as a homodimer. CD157 is expressed by macrophages, neutrophils, bone marrow stromal cells, endothelial cells, follicular dendritic cells, and T and B cell progenitors prior to the rearrangement of the antigen receptors. Besides the ectoenzyme activity, it also plays a role in neutrophil migration and adhesion.

Recommended Usage

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by immunofluorescent staining with flow cytometric analysis. For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is ≤ 0.25 µg per million cells in 100 µL volume. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.

Application Notes

Clone W21013C does not affect the binding of clone BP-3 on target cells.
