A18241B_PURE_Calretinin_Antibody_1_031120
Western blot of purified anti-Calretinin antibody (clone A18241B). Lane 1: Molecular weight marker; Lane 2: 20 µg of human cerebellum lysate; Lane 3: 20 µg of mouse cerebellum lysate; Lane 4: 20 µg of rat cerebellum lysate. The blot was incubated with 0.1 µg/mL of the primary antibody overnight at 4°C, followed by incubation with HRP goat anti-mouse IgG antibody (Cat. No. 405306). Enhanced chemiluminescence was used as the detection system.

Description

Calretinin is a calcium-binding protein that is abundantly expressed in interneurons and multiple regions of the brain, including the brainstem, hypothalamus, hippocampus, and cerebellum. Calretinin is involved in regulating intracellular calcium signaling and modulating neuronal excitability. Loss and reorganization of calretinin-positive interneurons have been indicated as possible cause in human epilepsy. In addition, calretinin is considered as the most sensitive and specific marker for the diagnosis of malignant mesothelioma.
