IHC staining of purified anti-SNAP-25 antibody (clone SP12) on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human brain tissue. Following antigen retrieval using Sodium Citrate H.I.E.R., the tissue was incubated with 5 µg/ml of the primary antibody for 60 minutes at room temperature. BioLegend´s Ultra-Streptavidin (USA) HRP kit (Multi-Species, DAB, Cat. No. 929901) was used for detection followed by hematoxylin counterstaining, according to the protocol provided. The image was captured with a 40X objective. Scale bar: 50 µm

Description

SNAP-25, also known as synaptosomal-associated protein 25, is a component of the trans-SNARE complex. It is a Q-SNARE protein anchored to the membrane on the cytosolic face, and does not contain a trans-membrane domain. The SNARE complex is involved in the vesicle fusion process. SNAP-25 is implicated in the inhibition of voltage-gated calcium channels, and has been shown to decrease calcium responsiveness in glutamatergic synapses.
