CD213a1, also known as IL-13Rα1, is a subunit of the IL-13R complex. It can heterodimerize with IL-4R and bind IL-13 with high affinity. IL-13Rα1 by itself binds IL-13 with low affinity compared to IL-13Rα2. It is a 48.7 kD, single pass type I membrane protein. It is expressed at low levels on myeloid cells and on activated T and B cells and Th17 cells. It interacts with TYK2 and may lead to activation of JAK1, STAT3, and STAT6 that is induced by IL-13 and IL-4. It has been implicated to have a role in asthma and allergic responses.
