O94A3_Purified_Doublecortin_Antibody_071819
Western blot of purified anti-Doublecortin (DCX) antibody (clone O94A3). Lane 1: Molecular weight marker; Lane 2: 10 µg of embryonic mouse brain lysate. The blot was incubated with 5 µg/mL of the primary antibody overnight at 4°C, followed by incubation with HRP-labeled goat anti-mouse IgG (Cat. No. 405306). Enhanced chemiluminescence was used as the detection system.

Description

Doublecortin (DCX) is a microtubule-associated protein that is predominantly expressed in embryonic brains by neuronal precursor cells or immature neurons. DCX is also expressed in the adult brains in regions such as subventricular zones and dentate gyrus, where neuronal precursor cells are localized, and thus has been widely used as a marker for neurogenesis. Doublecortin binds to the microtubule cytoskeleton and stabilizes microtubule bundles. Mutation in DCX has been identified in diseases such as X-linked lissencephaly and double cortex syndrome.
