Glycoprotein VI (GPVI) is a 37 kD type-I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily, primarily expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes. GPVI is a collagen receptor and is involved in collagen-induced platelet adhesion and activation. GPVI plays a key role in platelet procoagulant activity and subsequent thrombin and fibrin formation. This procoagulant function may contribute to arterial and venous thrombus formation. The signaling pathway involves the FcR gamma-chain, the Src kinases (likely FYN or LYN) and SYK, the adapter protein LAT and leads to the activation of PLCG2.

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by immunofluorescent staining with flow cytometric analysis. For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is ≤ 0.25 µg per million cells in 100 µL volume. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.
