Description

Transmembrane Activator and CAML Interactor (TACI) is a tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily (TNFSF) member. It is a type III transmembrane protein sharing a high degree of homology with B cell maturation antigen (BCMA) among TNFSF members. It binds to the ligands BAFF (BLyS) and APRIL. CD267 appears to be particularly important for the regulation of B cell survival and maturation in the spleen. It is a major mediator of BAFF-dependent costimulatory responses in peripheral B cells. Signaling through TACI may serve to down-regulate B cell activity as well. The actual role for TACI in the mouse has still not been fully determined.

Recommended Usage

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by immunofluorescent staining with flow cytometric analysis. For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is ≤1.0 µg per 106 cells in 100 µl. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.

Antigen Details

Structure
TACI/CD267 is a type III transmembrane protein belonging to TNF receptor superfamily (TNFSF). Among TNFSF members, TACI shares a high degree of homology with B cell maturation antigen (BCMA). It binds to the ligands BAFF (BLyS) and APRIL.
Distribution

CD267 is expressed predominantly by splenic transitional type 2 and marginal zone B cells, as well as activated B cells. But it is notably absent from germinal center B cells.

Function
CD267 appears to be particularly important for the regulation of B cell survival and maturation in the spleen. It is a major mediator of BAFF-dependent costimulatory responses in peripheral B cells. Signaling through TACI may serve to down-regulate B cell activity.
